About Therapy

For most people, therapy brings comfort and it is almost a guarantee that we will laugh together. With that in mind, you may not always leave session feeling better than when you came in. Like exercise or learning a new language, you will put in hard work. You will talk about situations, feelings, and experiences that are difficult, and you will be challenged to think about things in a different way. Like other commitments that require work, the result is almost always worth the discomfort. I strive to create an environment where you will feel safe enough to get uncomfortable with me, and where we can have open conversations about it. That is where healing occurs.

Emotions are what makes us human; they can also bring pain. It is normal for everyone to feel down, anxious, asocial, and angry. But sometimes, these feelings stick around and you may wonder when it’s time to seek professional help.

Some common signs that you should see a psychologist include:

  • Feeling persistently down or sad

  • Not leaving the house

  • Feeling on edge without resolve

  • Not taking care of hygiene
